It's not very trivial. Assuming you are using cups you have to edit 
the ppd-definition of the printer. Lets say, you own a oki 400ex 
(like me) then there are something like 

*PageSize A4/A4: "<</PageSize[595 842]/ImagingBBox 
null>>setpagedevice"

in your ppd-file in /etc/cups/ppd. Change it to 

*PageSize A4/A4: "<</PageSize[595 842]/Margins[-85 10]/ImagingBBox 
null>>setpagedevice"

where Margins specify the top and left margins of the paper. You can 
check the margins by printing the testpage.dvi file which comes with 
latex/tex. This page has a scale at the top, left, right and bottom 
for seting the page on your printer.

Additionaly you can change the ImageableArea entry in the ppd-file.
