Do you want to change the display resolution or do you want to change 
the size of the login window?

The display resolution is the same as the default X resolution. So you 
probably don't want to change this. If you want to change this then you 
can do this with SaX2.

The size of the login window can for example be reduced by disabling the 
showing of the users. You can configure this where you can change the 
font, etc.
