Don't quote me on this, but I think I remember a discussion about this in 
one of the developer lists.
I think the conclusion was that nobody with enough securty expertise has 
time for that at the moment.
The core developers with secruity background are currently working on the 
certificate handling/generation and related stuff.

Of course it won't be wrong to file that as a whishlist on bugs.kde.org :)
