styles crash ksplash

KDE 3.0 works fine as long as I use the default 64000 style.
Changing to e. g. dot.net, keramik or light style causes "Ksplash" to crash at 
start of KDE. Thereafter all works normal.

Calling kcmshell kstyle from Konsole tells

/usr/lib/kde3/plugins/styles/dotnet.so: Feature dotNET already defined in 
/usr/lib/kde3/plugins//styles/dotnet.so!
etc....
KThemeStyle cache seems corrupt!

Also happens to a fresh installed user
Starting KDE also leaves (independent of the sytyle) a "Mutex destroy failure: 
Das Gerät oder die Ressource ist belegt" in ~/.xsession-errors.

KDE is RPM for RH 7.2
What/where is KThemeStyle cache and how to fix it?
