png problem

I found this in my kde logs related with the png loading problem of konqueror:

kdeinit: Got EXEC_NEW '/opt/kde3/bin/kdesud' from launcher.
ld.so.1: kdesud: fatal: libpng.so.2: open failed: No such file or directory
ld.so.1: kdesud: fatal: libpng.so.2: open failed: No such file or directory

libpng.so.2 exists, and it is in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH

Is there something else I can do???
