That's fine, then that URL should have a redirect to the current location which
is on the community Wiki. Having duplicate content which is out of date, is not
good for web Crawlers, or the people who happen to land on that page like
myself.

Personally i always feel a bit uneasy about doing redirects like that.

I'd like to understand why the wiki was created if we already had a get
involved webpage.

Was it because the people writing the wiki didn't know the existing one
existed? 
Was it some other reason? 
Also who am I/you to decide the wiki content is better than the other page? Is
there an actual consensus on that?

There is a major advantage to having it a wiki: the barrier to editing it is
vastly smaller than for a webpage on kde.org. Even most people with contributor
accounts don't have access to the website. As a result...

I can confidently state that the wiki content is now better than the website
content, because I and others have been working on improving it for the past
year, because it's a wiki. https://www.kde.org/get-involved on the other hand
is terribly out of date and lacks most of the information on
https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/. It is not actually a useful source of
information.

I agree with this, and something I'd like to bring up at a later date is moving
other pages that have been left to rot, to Wiki-style for this same reason.

a poor and incomplete description at the top.

Now I'm sure that experienced users will be able to guess which .iso to click
on. Although the difference between:
- neon-useredition-current.iso
- neon-useredition-20180104-1018-amd64.iso
is unclear. Actually only the description need be shown. the filename itself is
cryptic.
I guess this page is automatically generated. But its's not the sort of muddle
new people should be expected to guess their way through.

The issue seems to be that on https://neon.kde.org/download when you click the
nice download graphic instead of a file download starting it takes you to the
directory listing on files.ko for the current image

This contains as well as the symlink of current it also lists the real current
dated, i can understand the reason for it if you download lots but it does add
some confusion

As the .message is multi-lined it is collapsed by default and not obvious to
expand it, for the still slightly confusing note (from a new user point of
view)

Side note:
ubuntu and fedora downloads are very simple and intuitive
mint, opensuse and solus are more confusing

For the user edition at least maybe the button could just be to the download
for current iso with underneath a verify and advanced links or download page
similar to fedora?

Reassigning to Neon in that case. The download.kde.org / files.kde.org pages
are generic and aren't intended for what Neon are using them for.

Their pages should really link to the <url>.mirrorlist variant (for the ISOs,
as that page gives the hashes along with a list of mirrors for those that
like/need to pick their own mirror), with the .asc and .zsync links being
separate (for those that want those)

There are a few translatable strings extracted from release
announcements' .php files like these:
  "Today KDE unveils a %1 release of Plasma %2."
  "Today KDE unveils the %1 release of Plasma %2."
  "Today KDE launches the %1 release of Plasma %2."
where "%1" in substituted by a hardcoded English word.

For example in announcements/plasma-5.14.0.php:
  i18n_var("Today KDE launches the %1 release of Plasma %2.", "first", "5.14")
the word "first" cannot be translated into other human languages.

Please fix. I guess even a static string "Today KDE launches the first
release of Plasma 5.14." would be better than what we have now.

I'm updating all the screenshot in the kde userbase wiki and I'm unsure how the cache work. Sometime then I'm updating the screenshot, the new screenshot is directly displayed in the article, but most of the time, the old screenshot is displayed instead. I tried to clean the cache in my browser, and also with other brower and other device. Some screenshot are already 3 days old, and I'm not sure if I need to wait more or something need to be done manually.
