KDE on Mandrake 8.2

I have experinced something unusual(I think) The K icon on my menu bar 
disappeared and with it all the software available to user and I I'm too 
inexperienced to "root" around for it.
I have been using Mozilla messenger reading my mail, I exited MM and there on 
the tool bar the"K" was missing  I can get to my bookmarks in Mozilla thru 
Konquerer drop down,but have not been able to access saved mail in Mozilla 
not to mention every thing else in or under that"K".
