I think his kind of nitpicking won't get anywhere unless it's organized.

If you have issues with the current drafts, submit them as proposed 
requirements.  I hope Jason, Christoph, or Rainer will let us know how 
where to send them, and where they will be made available for everyone to 
see and consider.

Once the list of measurable, objective requirements is fixed, we can put 
out a call for designs that meet every single requirement.  It's likely 
that none of the current designs will qualify.

Then the appointed three can decide on one of the qualifying designs.
