olivier.bourdon at freesbee.fr
Thu Jun 20 11:29:19 UTC 2002
Package: www.kde.org
Version: KDE 3.0.1
Severity: normal
Installed from: Solaris Packages
Compiler: N/A
OS: Solaris
OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified
Trying to install the KDEkdemultimedia package from http://ibiblio.org/pub/packages/desktops/kde/stable/3.0.1/Solaris/Solaris8/pkg/kdemultimedia-3.0.1.PKG.bz2
pkgadd utility gives the following error
pkgadd: ERROR: attempt to process datastream failed
- bad format in datastream table-of-contents
I first thought that the package was somehow corrupted but after downloading it several times nothing changed.
Digging further into the problem showed that the name of the package itself is too long (over 14 chars) and therefore cause the problem
