Disable solid?

Hi,

does anybody know how I could disable solid on win32? It seems that
starting kdevelop hangs because of some wmi-query that doesn't work. In
particular the code seems to hang in wmiquery.cpp on line 101 when
connecting to some server.

This is on vista64, using msvc2008 in a VMWare. I do have 1 usb-gamepad
connected to the host and the vmware forwards it to vista. 

I also see an RPC-Thread running, but there are no symbols available for
it. Shouldn't the connectToServer timeout after a few seconds/minutes?
