x64 and use existing tool installations?

This is a two-part question, somewhat related to each other:

1) Has anybody attempted building on x64? emerge is running as I type,
but I'd like to know about other (if any) experiences.
2) Can I point emerge to my existing perl installation? I already have
ActivePerl 5.10 in C:\Perl64 but emerge downloaded 5.8.
