Dolphin, .desktop files and .exe files

The only response to my post about problems using files in Dolphin 
(reproduced below) was from Christian Ehrlicher, who wrote:

I don't understand what you mean.

I still have these problems with dolphin 1.9.99 on 4.00.80.  (I can't 
reproduce them in konqueror.exe, it won't start.)

My problem 4. is partly a general problem with "Home" in file dialogs in 
MS-Windows.  I can avoid Dolphin's initial alert by setting Dolphin's 
Settings > Configure Dolphin > Home Folder Location, but the Home button 
is still dead in dialogs ( http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=156690 ). 
  I wonder if there's a workaround to define an environment variable for 
"Home"?  I tried setting %HOME% and it didn't seem to help.

With regards to 1. and 3., if I hover over an icon a checkmark appears 
and if I right-click on an icon I get a flicker of a context menu, but 
before I can choose anything, I get the "... .desktop is malformatted" 
alert.  Someone filed http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=156442 , but I 
can't update it or any other MS-Windows bug because "A legal platform 
was not set".

For 2., I filed http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=158034
