kcmshell not doing anything

Hi,

to get some more natively-looking kdev screenshots I installed kdebase
today. First thing I noted was that the whole workplace was left out,
which is bad - IMHO - because I'd like to see kcontrol in Windows too,
for things like look&feel.

The other more problematic issue: kcmshell doesn't seem to work, it
doesn't do anything here neither using
kcmshell --list
kcmshell kstyle

or any other of the installed kcm's. It does however start dbus.

Any pointers as to how to debug this? I can't seem to be able to debug
this with windbg, because

a) I can't find out how to set a breakpoint into a source file
b) I can't seem to add cmdline arguments to pass to the executing app
