Now if you ask kde-games-devel for improvements in KDE-utils there is a 
deal ;)

Okteta:
* new checksum tool:
  allows to calculate checksums or hashes for the current selection
  builtin: modular sum, adler32, crc32
  others depend on available qca2 plugins, could be: SHA-0/1/224/256/384/512,
  MD-2/4/5, RIPEMD160, Whirlpool
* new filesystem browser sideview for selection of files to load (Kate-like)
* new bookmarks sidebar for quick access and better overview/management
* bookmarks now have names, default to text at the current location, if avail.
  (bigger disservice: bookmarks are still not stored on closing
  of a file, buh)
* new: current selection is displayed in statusbar, offsets and size
