what i didn't notice before is

it still says 4.8.3 there, although i updated with apt-get install kde-workspace, and i believe dependencies should bump the version up

yes, since KDE 4.8 at least. this was very frustrating as i was accustomed to this cool fast way of running apps. alt+f2 still works with plasma-desktop, but it is not with plasma-netbook.
is it possible to at least show + focus plasma-netbook's search line when user presses alt+f2?


also what is interesting: KDE 4.8 is starting much faster on my older acer aspire atom n455 kubuntu 11.10 netbook, then on acer aspire one atom n2600 kubuntu 12.04. (about 30 seconds between kde splash and plasma-netbook appearing), making total boottime as long as 1:25
