Merging kpeople branch into master

Hey all,

we've been going with Vishesh over the kpeople design in the branch
mklapetek/toplevel_contacts and we're both happy to merge this into master.
Once done, we can go from there and fix stuff that's missing/needs fixing
and start doing proper review requests. I'd also like to ask for a general
review once it's in master as we're considering some larger changes for
today.

If there are no objections, I'll do it later tonight.
