I don't as using it right now is a bit clumsy - it's either on desktop,
which you'd have to display first, or dashboard, but then it needs
filtering etc.

Search bar definitely yes (another frequently requested thing). Starting
typing would need keyboard focus first, we might as well have a search
field then.

Depends on the behavior of clicking. If single-click starts a chat, then
there should be some way to start those too. Possible way is to "expand"
the contact on click, showing all available actions then. Doubleclick would
start normal chat (and not expand it).
