There was a GSOC project this summer putting OTR into telepathy (our backend)

I had it all described to me at the desktop summit, it doesn't seem too much
work, but we have an extra channel to support.

AFAIK the spec never got finalised, and I'm not sure if the changes got merged.
That's a research task for someone.
