Hey,
here I'm sending few notes from yesterday's meeting (thanks David for
taking notes):
People Present:
- Martin (chair)
- DrDanz
- Dominik (Cermak)
- Dominik (Thor)
- D_Ed (minutes)
- Dario
- Lasath
- Alin (sort of)
1) How to become less contact-list centric and push integration further
- Lasath suggested a KRunner for starting chats/calls/possibly presence?
- David has experience writing KRunner plugins, but noone claimed this task
- Daniele suggested a kioslave for contact actions - maybe merge this
two together? not sure about the internals, so can't really tell - noone
claimed this idea either
- Most people would like to see more features in presence plasmoid - at
least setting presence message and possibly offering the custom presences
from contact list
- George K. suggested to then hide these controls from the contact
list when the presence applet is present
- this could be helped by the contact list plasmoid -> create one
plasmoid of these two (make them pluggable), but keep them separate in
code, so they can be used standalone
- Both David and Francesco have working version, which according
to David looks fugly, but codewise is ok.
- David has almost finished dialog for managing avatars and
nicknames. Lengthy discussion followed about extending KUser/Account
Information KCM (with Daniele being strong supporter) with our stuff, some
good ideas floated around, nothing particular was decided. Maybe for 0.4?
For 0.3, we'll have this dialog as KCM.
- There is some talk about adding non-chat-online-accounts-kcm to
KDE, *are we able to accomodate this in our project?*
2) Chat plasmoid
- Woo!
- Missing delegateChannel in TpQt4
- (https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43594)
- Try and see if we can get it into 0.3 as just an observer.
- Requires D_Ed to stop being lazy and fix the Text UI.
- I want to see if we can make it an observer
3) Design new notifications
- We need some major features in notifications, which KNotify can't
really give us. We may write our own internal notification system. Not yet
clear how or what, George K. will write a 'spec' - what we need and how it
should work, then we can move it on.
- Want to look like KNotify, but KNotify can have lots of different
front ends
- Also considering KOSD project.
4) Naming
- Yet again we ended up discussing naming issues - we have mess
everywhere. A wiki [1] was created which lists naming scheme. Executive
decision was made - our project name is "KDE Telepathy", we're under KDE
umbrella, therefore we'll follow KDE namings and we'll honor our project
name. And let's forget this ever happened.
5) Nepomuk
- Nepomuk state - very basic things are in place, though we're awaiting
what will happen after new year (as Trueg most probably won't continue
development, not confirmed nor announced yet, please don't spread panic).
- No idea what we're doing for 0.4. If the Nepomuk will keep looking
good, we'll probably delay 0.4 as long as needed for the Nepomuk
transtition, so it _finally_ happens. We can also release small 0.3.x
releases, but generally 0.3 is good enough.

Recapitulating outstanding tasks/ideas (feel free to claim it):
- lancelot part
- krunner
- KIO (don't really understand this)
- finish the contact list plasmoid + include presence controls.
- Talk to upstream about global avatar + nickname.
- Sort out delegateChannel in TpQt4
- Fix message acking in Text UI.
- Spec up our requirements for our KNotify (George K)
- Sort out naming conventions
- Use them
Attached is a full IRC log.
Thanks for being such an awesome team. Merry Christmas all and Happy New
Year (watch out, they say it's the last one)!
