I hate to give one of those "it works for me" type answers especially as it's
clearly a very serious issue, but we're going to need some more information to
work out where the problem lies to be able to fix this.

Do you use other connections, have you seen the same issue there?
Do you have empathy installed?
What version of telepathy-butterfly do you run?
Are you on a dodgy internet connection? We don't disconnect when you go
offline, which can lead to a few problems with some CMs.

Most importantly, could you install telepathy-logger (it's probably already in
your package repository, as it's not KDE specific) and when it's installed and
you know you've missed a message could you search in
~/.local/share/TpLogger/logs/ for the missed messages.

If tp-logger receives them and KDE doesn't then the problem lies with us.
Otherwise we may need to ask upstream telepathy.
