I want to try this, so will do so and make a branch.

We will then test for a week or two, and ask our usability guys. 

If it's amazing, we'll replace the tabs
If it's good, we might make it an option
if it's rubbish and annoying it won't get merged (you could still keep the
patch I guess though :) )
