add a setting to make height of the input text box configurable

as there are no compelling reasons to make the input box hardcoded to one line
or to two lines. I would like to see this as a configurable option and allow
the user to decide for him/herself how it likes it.

there are a lot of reasons why a user would prefer a one line and another set
of reasons why would prefer 2 lines.... 

Let us not be orwellian on this. I will also open a review board with a
proposed patch for this.
