Fixing the frequency of this bug is being discussed at
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=310002. 
That has steps to reproduce, explanation of what's wrong, and plans towards
fixing.

This bug can stay on being about the sound. 
We use the default sound "KDE-im-cant-connect" from the sound theme, which
given the cause our code is doing everything absolutely right. 

However, I do agree with you that it is a bit over-the-top for something as
minor as going offline. 

If you want to file a bug on the KDE sounds, and then mark this as blocking
against that bug, please do so.
