Bug ID: 300909
Severity: minor
Version: 0.3
Priority: NOR
Assignee: kde-telepathy-bugs at kde.org
Summary: Contact List Group Titles Appear in Arabic
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux
Reporter: unixandcoffee at gmail.com
Hardware: Fedora RPMs
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Component: contactlist
Product: telepathy
On a fresh installation of Fedora 17, having done a full yum update and reboot,
Telepathy's IM Contact Buddy Group titles, as imported from GTalk, AIM,
Facebook, etc. ignore that my system-wide pref in KDE is for US English, and
shows only the title text string in Arabic, complete with it being
right-to-left and right-aligned.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Add any major IM provider's active user acct to Telepathy
2. Make sure you can view contacts by groups
3. See Arabic
Actual Results:
Exactly as decribed. I cannot validate what is being printed in Arabic. I only
speak and read English as Castellano. My only friends who are even near the
Arabic-speaking parts of the world are Indian and themselves speak Hindi and
English. Maybe we could get a screenshot or copy-paste the Arabic text and show
it to someone who can read it correctly. I wonder what it says ^_^
Expected Results:
The software should have followed the lang prefs from the rest of Plasma.
Initial setup chose english, so all software KDE-related under Plasma should
follow a system-wide preference for localization and support for such.
Does not affect or in any way infringe on the functionality of the application
or any dependencies. Rep is filed as 'MINOR' but sysadmins should be notified
for future maintenance releases to the product.
