I did that originally to get rid of the IIIMX thingies when running through 
dtlogin; it may not be relevant in other contexts. Now is the time -- since 
there are actual downloadable packages -- to do this kind of testing and start 
polishing the packages so they're actually nice to use for everyone and not 
just those folk who know where the gotchas are and how to work around them.
