[kde-solaris] Cursor resize in KDE 3.4.1 on Solaris 10

Apologies if this has been covered or is just too trivial for this old
dummy to find....

I have been unable to resize my mouse pointer (or install new cursor
themes) in KDE running on Solaris 10.

I've tried installing the cursor themes into ~/.icons, and these are
never recognized in the control center peripheral -> Mouse -> Cursor
Theme tab.  There also seems to be no "add new theme" button there, as
there is on other platforms.

Any pointers or tips would be appreciated.
