Hi,

at least, i can confirm this behavior for KDE 3.4.3 @ ultraSPARC - there, the
same happens.

It also happens when using kate and kdevelop. So, i guess that the error stems
from the embedded KDE editor component which is used within kwrite, kate and
kdevelop. However, i encountered (in kate/kdevelop) that if you open a second
file within the same application, this 2nd one will be loaded and displayed
correctly, and the gray canvas of the 1st file disappears and is replaced by
the correct view.
