HP ScanJet 6300C, connected via USB. No errors. Like it's not even looking
for USB scanners. (at least not HP ones)

Which means that either:
A) You are not using a USB scanner
B) You are not using anything from the build of SANE you provided
in /opt/fsw4sun
C) Your scanner uses some driver that makes it look like something non-USB to
SANE.

$ldd /opt/fsw4sun/lib/sane/libsane-hp.so.1.0.12 | grep usb
...nothing prints...

$ldd /opt/sfw/lib/sane/libsane-hp.so.1.0.14 | grep usb
        libusb.so.1 =>   /usr/sfw/lib/libusb.so.1

Additionally:
$ldd /opt/fsw4sun/lib/sane/*.so | grep libusb | wc -l
0

$ldd /opt/sfw/lib/sane/*.so | grep libusb | wc -l
53

Also, it seems like your fsw4sun build of the SANE libraries is *OLDER* than
the one Sun shipped with the OS. (though it does appear to be linked against
more stuff, which may be why you did it.)

Good luck, and thanks for all the work :)

P.S. People's automatic out-of-office e-mail replies should not spam anyone
who posts to a public mailing list they subscribe to. (got 2 of those with my
last post)
