As we dont use to work with solaris 8, and as we dont have too much free
time, we would be very glad if you could test our release on solaris 8,
and let us know about what is broken, later releases were compiled using
libXrender that doesnt come with solaris 8, but last 2 releases we
removed it, so we think it should at least work. As i said we would be
very glad if you could really test it reporting us with errors.

We never meant that using GNU tools were a KDE feature, but is true that
kde developers use to code thinking mostly on gcc, and porting it to
SunCC pro, is a hard work, and i dont really know if there is any
performance difference between both compilers, but for me kde looks to
run better compiled with gcc, i cannot say that this is true, is only a
thought.
About full i18n releases, is really by comfort issues, i mean a c
compiler isnt needed, but it needs make, autoconf, etc. Also it doesnt
suppose any extra work for us because i18n compilation and packaging is
automated. About the disk space, mostly of linux distributions are
released with full i18n, so i dont see the problem, thats why the 8 and
10 releases are symbolic links, due to disk space issues, we could
rename all the packages to -sol8 and -sol10 but if the packages contains
the same binaries is stupid.
Also suppose that if you install kde on solaris, you must know how to
compile i18n isnt totally true, mostly of sun java programmers, use to
work with windows, and they use solaris many times, at user level, so
would be very nice to make an installer as sun's gnome 2 has.

We know that you are very carefully porting kde to sparc arch, trying to
keep all the functionalities working, so we would appreciate very much
any help with this, if you could send us your patches, only referred to
functionality, not fot SunCC porting. We have problems with kdesu, and
the screen lock, would be very nice if we could really work as a team in
this issues, as we dont have to much time to spend on this, and we arent
skilled c coders.
