[kde-solaris] Color depth with KDE on Solaris

Just installed KDE 2.2 on Solaris 2.8 using the package avail. on SUN's 
website. It's working okay, the only thing is KDE is limiting itself to 
only 256 (?) colors so the background and all the icons look grainy. 
When I run other apps from KDE they look fine and use the full color 
pallate available but KDE itself is not using all the colors available. 
Any ideas?
