If you are using /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow then try the following:

As root, run the following (adjust the /usr/local/kde31 paths as needed).
ln -s /usr/local/lib/libgcc_s.so.1 /usr/lib
ln -s /usr/local/kde31/lib/libkdefakes.so.4.1.0 /usr/lib
chown root /usr/local/kde31/bin/kcheckpass
chmod u+s /usr/local/kde31/bin/kcheckpass

If you are using NIS/NIS+ then I think Devendra Deshpande
[devendra@cadence.com] suggested earlier to see the following bug:

Subject: [kde-solaris] Lock Screen

Hi

I've recently upgraded using the frog pkgs (great job btw thx) but I
have a little problem. When I lock my screen it wont accept my password
to log back on. I'm currently using xlock as a work around but would
prefer a better solution so I can use screen savers etc.

Thanks

Tony
