Hi Everyone,
First of all, Happy Holidays, Happy New Year to everyone!
I have uploaded a patch to fix the problem experienced by HansJoerg.
It can be found in KDE-3.1.4, and its name is SUNWkdebase-patch01.
This package contains two files:
- a fixed startkde with the correct LD_LIBRARY_PATH settings
- a simple progam named kstartupcheck which checks for the existence
and the correct permissions and ownership for the 4 user-dependent
directories in /tmp:
/tmp/mcop-${USER}
/tmp/mcop-${USER}/artsd-samples
/tmp/ksocket-${USER}
/tmp/kde-${USER}
If any of these directories happens to not exist, kstartupcheck
creates it with the correct permissions and ownership.
This little program needs to be installed setuid root (it should be).
The new startkde contains an entry for kstartupcheck (it should be
called right after kchmod, before anything kde-related starts
happening).
The source code for kstartupcheck (kstartupcheck.c) can be found in
the PATCHES directory.
