i don't know if this is of use to you or anyone else trying to roll pkg's but here's a link http://www.bpfh.net/computing/software/pkg-tools/ dunno how useful these tools are, but a sun engineer sent me the link.. 

on another topic how hard would it be to create 64bit versions of the current 3.1 pkg's?? mission impossible?
