Project for Season of KDE 2018

Hello everyone,
I have a doubt for a project stated on:
https://community.kde.org/GSoC/2018/Ideas named "A new Season of KDE
Website", since I have never participated in season of KDE(s) before so I
don't know what http://season.kde.org/ actually does? I presume it is a
platform for registering mentors & students and is used to evaluate
student's progress during SoK? Given that the latest post about SoK 2018 is
provided with its link for registration. I tried to find bugs about it on
https://bugs.kde.org/ but it had no related bugs listed. Is this project
okay to be done during SoK 2018? If it is, then would the project require
to upgrade http://season.kde.org/ to suit required needs? or to create a
new one instead(as stated on GSoC Ideas page)?
