First, a note about etiquette -- not all of us are male, and none of
us is formal. "Dear Sirs" is rather confusing to us.
It's nice to hear that you are preparing yourself already for GSoC
2017. Of course we have not even applied to be a mentoring org yet,
but we naturally hope that we will succeed in being accepted.
My advice to you is the same I always give -- use the software, file
bug reports, test bug reports, fix bugs, and figure out what part of
the enormous KDE development community you are interested in working
with.
Read the Devel manual [1], join some IRC channels (some also use
Telegram or Rocket Chat), join some mail lists, help people on the
Forum if you enjoy doing that, and so forth. In general, make yourself
useful in your chosen team, and use your knowledge to develop your
proposal.
Best of luck
Valorie
PS: This list is mostly comprised of fellow students, and not many
mentors or admins. Feel free to use it to get information from other
students.
