[Kde-scm-interest] Git for new projects?

Hi,

I'm getting ready to start a new KDE-related project, and I would really 
really really love to use git, rather than start out in SVN, and then move to 
git with the rest of KDE. 

Is there something special that needs to be done in order to get things like 
the KDE commit hooks added to the repositories that get set up so that things 
like the commit mails, bug mails, etc. work?

What is the stance on using git for new stuff anyways?
