Google's analysis (here:
http://code.google.com/p/support/wiki/DVCSAnalysis ) in no way says
mercurial is "just superior" to Git. They chose Mercurial because of its
faster HTTP support. In fact, their Summary is two lines:
In terms of implementation effort, Mercurial has a clear advantage due
to its efficient HTTP transport protocol.

In terms of features, Git is more powerful, but this tends to be offset
by it being more complicated to use.
Since then the HTTP support in Git has gotten a lot better -- and we'd
be using the native Git protocol mostly anyways (although Gitorious does
support HTTP).

So please, no nonsense about Mercurial being "just superior" based on
this document.

P.S. The comments are rather interesting too. I like this one: "my
mercurial experience is a good match to this DVCSAnalysis as it is
equally old (we switched to git about a year ago)"
