And recording exactly that is all that this is about.
If you clone a git repo from gitorious there is no way to find out who pushed, 
for example, Thiago's latest commit.
Git just doesn't have that info.

This thread is dedicated to recording extra information like who pushed which 
commits. The suggestion was made to store the info which gitorious (identified) 
user updated the 'HEAD' to a new ref, that would be a nice solution.
I think we suggested other solutions too.

So, don't overthink this, what you suggest is what we want to do.
Please read my initial email again, it has a couple of usecases (the most 
complicated ones, for sure) that I ask we verify work.

In essence, if 3 years from now I find a commit with your email address on it, 
how will I figure out who actually pushed it. Thats all.
