I would say that nearly every gui tool for cygwin is more a history
visualisation tool with some abilities to pick a commit here and create a
patch there but nothing for heavy file concentrated work. When I am think
about working with files I have something like TortoiseSVN or kdesvn in my
mind.
Ok, there is a project called git-cheetah as TortoiseSVN replacement, but it's
nearly nothing in their repository.
Maybe I am missing some tools and I think qgit4 could easily extended to
support more file based stuff.
The documentation I quiet good and you can find many tricks when you read
them. Some people also made very nice beginners guides and cheat sheets (you
can find one of them in Zack Rusin's blog).
