KDE4 slow

Hi,
If your card is so old you can't even get drivers for it, I doubt you'd be
able to use it with KDE 4 very well even if you were able to get the
drivers. Personally I think KDE 4 is the "Vista" of Linux, and for those who
may flame "GNU/Linux". Of course don't take it the wrong way, all I mean is
KDE 4 is flashy, with a ton of features, which means, it'll be slower on
most computers. Even with compositing disabled it'll be slow on an older
graphics card, which also may go in part with your computers performance.
Personally I think the minimum specs to run KDE 4 should be upped.

You may be better off running a smaller GUI, such as LXDE, or XFCE if you
computer is unable to handle the bigger ones.

I also have one more thing to throw in, I have noticed KDE 4 getting faster
over time since KDE 4 was originally released, and lots of new features
thrown in, as well as stability. However, one problem, no matter what the
computer I have had, from older ones, to even the most newest, I find
Dolphin is quite slow, espechially when it comes to large files, often
crashing the application. Don't get me wrong, I love Dolphin, but I think
there is a big issue there, as file managing is almost unusable graphically,
most of the time i'd have to resort to the terminal to move things, but as
you may see i'm fine with this, but many others, such as a common end user
does not want to use the terminal, so for now Dolphin is unusable for a lot
of people I know, and i'd be unable to recomend it to them. Of course i'm
running KDE 4.2 in Kubuntu, perhaps it is a specific Distro problem, has
anyone else had the same issue?
