Actually, I don't know either :-). I copied the 'preferred forms' from the
proofreading team (see
http://www.kde.me.uk/index.php?page=Consistency+rules).
For the moment, I'm quite happy to keep these as the preferred forms, since:
1. If we change all occurrences in all documentation to the same thing, then
it's easy to change to a different form later, if we change our minds.
2. If we start discussing the relative merits of different forms, we'll
probably spend forever without making any useful decisions :-).
