What to do with old bugs that aren't well defined?

People don't appear to like the way that I do things, but I will give my advice 
any way.

If the bug can not be reproduced, then it is useless because there is no way to 
fix it.

You have to use your judgment on whether or not you should take additional 
action to try to convert it into a reproduce able bug.

If you can not reproduce it yourself, I suggest contacting the reporter by 
private e-mail to try to make a test case.  If you can't make a test case, then 
I would simply close it and advise the reporter to reopen it if they continue to 
have the problem with the current release.
