agreed; aside from KWin bugs that crop up now and again, modal dialogs that 
block progress should be properly parented. this is actually a great job for 
the kde-quality team: discover all modal dialogs that aren't parented to the 
appropriate window and can therefore be hidden in the background! the fix is 
often trivial ...
