Note: I originally sent this mail yesterday, but KMail seems to have clumped
the whole lot into one big attachment (at least according to my sent-mail
folder), which I am guessing the mailing list manager blocked due to the
general appearance of spaminess. I apologize if you received this twice.
Original message:
Hi all,
Attached is a tarball that contains 3 files.
The patch contained does three things:
* Changes the METASOURCES = lines in Makefile.am to a simple METASOURCES =
AUTO, since that seems to work, and will involve a lot less typing for the
future changes I will probably have to make.
* Changes the Options dialog (Settings -> Configure KDat) to use Designer +
KDialogBase. I was wondering, would it be better to use Zack's KConfig
class. I remember reading a tutorial on it somewhere. The added files
(OptionsDlgBase.{ui,ui.h}) are also attached.
* Since I changed the config dialog anyways, I went ahead and added tooltips
and WhatsThis help. Anything I wasn't sure about was pretty much copied from
the program help page.
This has been tested using the unsermake (amazing piece of work, that) build
system.
I would appreciate it if someone more knowledgable about this than I would
review the patch, and let me know if this is where KDE is supposed to be
heading with its config dialogs. Doesn't make sense to port it now just to
port it again for 3.4/4.0. ;-)
If the patch is OK, then feel free to apply it, and add the two files. I will
try to work on the other dialogs, and on XMLGUI in the meantime.
Regards,
- Michael Pyne
