I've had the same problem. It is also possible to skip problematic modules
 for the build process if you don't need them.

$ export DO_NOT_COMPILE="kate"
$ ./kde-build kdelibs

Several modules in DO_NOT_COMPILE have to be separated by space. -> BTW.
 maybe someone could add this to the page ?
