Yes. In CVS, you can check out code from different branches. The branch
called HEAD represents the latest code, and is checked out automatically if
you don't explicitly ask for a different branch.

You should be able to close the bug if you reported it. It would probably be
good to add a testcase demonstrating that bug to khtmltests as well to
prevent the bug from reappearing.
