Yes, I run Gentoo, and I've written a script to build KDE from CVS.
Source-based on both accounts.

To be honest, I seriously wouldn't mind doing either.  Ever since reading
ESR's rant on configuring CUPS, I've been trying to think what I could do to
improve usability in KDE.  I love programming, though.  If there is a lack of
developers to do something like that, I wouldn't mind.

As far as programs, I would probably say KMail, Konqueror, and JuK are my
favorites.  I've even submitted a few patches for JuK that made it in, such
as fixing systray transparency and fixing a layout quibble in the Advanced
Search Dialog.  I really wouldn't mind working with just about any program
though.  Perhaps there's a utility suffering from bit-rot somewhere that
could use an update?
