Not a bad idea, but I personally cannot use IRC most of the time. Secondly,
IRC might hamper people who live in different time zones (like me) from
participating. I cannot say how many people would face this problem.
Notwithstanding, someone could start a channel as an experiment to see if it
is effective. As long as not everyone on this ML is ecpected to know what's
going on in that channel.
