Works for me.

My first thought: his konsole is a login shell which sources some files that 
add $zipdir to PATH. 
So I tried exactly as described - works fine, results in compressed 
file. Then I tried being mean and move my zip program (while konqueror was 
running) out of PATH, and try again. Turns out that compress as-> bla.zip was 
not shown any longer. So I guess it can't be the login shell :-(.
