Hello KDE,

Thank you for the opportunity to join the KDE Promo team. I just got on matrix as 'jdose' and reading the KDE Community Wiki saw this is how I do an introduction.

I've been using computers 30+ years, starting way back with MS-DOS days. I've dabbled with Linux 20+/- years and went full time about 8 years ago. I was a previous web developer, did a lot with WordPress, and stepped away as surveillance capitalism took over. I taught video production for 3 years, 14 years ago, stepped away as subscription software models took control. I'm currently a remote scheduling manager who is staffing services for large corporations, particularly big tech so I've had a lot of experience witnessing the direction the industry has moved.

I've slowly observed how much improvement the FOSS community has made as a whole and recently discovered KDENLive which inspired me to get involved here. I am dedicating a lot of time to learn all the various opportunities developing and want to help support & promote the change we want to see making the world a better place with more freedom. Freedom I'm learning is a uniquely debated topic within the FOSS community and I'm still learning how to best navigate that philosophy in a sustainable sense. Please help me better understand the sensitivity of that topic and I welcome any feedback. My overall interests are empowering the next generation to find this opportunity and realize we all can 'do more things with less money' by making good choices. I've been very impressed with KDE's approach to lead and I'm excited for being here. Thank you for the opportunity to learn how to promote KDE.

Respectfully,

Josh aka jdose
